Pieter Seelaar en Ruud Nijman in selectie voor Worldcup Twenty-20

The Dutch selectors have largely kept faith with the players who secured World Cup qualification in choosing their squad for the forthcoming World Twenty20 championship in England.

There is only one change in the party which returned from South Africa last week, enforced by the availability of Victorian fast man Dirk Nannes for the June tournament.

Off-spinner Muhammad Kashif is the man who misses out this time, with Pieter Seelaar the one specialist spin bowler in the squad.

The Netherlands opens the tournament with a match against England at Lord’s on 5 June, with their second group match against Pakistan four days later at the same venue.

Arrangements for warm-up matches to be played in advance of the tournament remain uncertain: it is understood that plans for games against Full ICC members are in danger of falling through, and that the Dutch will warm up against a Professional Cricketers’ Association XI, Scotland and Ireland.

The full squad is:
• Jeroen Smits (HCC, captain)
• Peter Borren (VRA Amsterdam, vice-captain)
• Daan van Bunge (Excelsior ’20 Schiedam)
• Ryan ten Doeschate (Essex)
• Tom de Grooth (HCC)
• Maurits Jonkman (HCC)
• Alexei Kervezee (Worcestershire)
• Mudassar Bukhari (ACC)
• Dirk Nannes (Victoria)
• Ruud Nijman (Hermes-DVS Schiedam)
• Darron Reekers (Quick Haag)
• Edgar Schiferli (Quick Haag)
• Pieter Seelaar (Hermes-DVS Schiedam)
• Eric Szwarczynski (VRA Amsterdam)
• Bas Zuiderent (VOC Rotterdam)
